It was necessary to develop a universal language in order to help people from different parts of the world to understand each other by means of photos. Photography makes people closer and we want to take part in this process. At the same time, many Poles have created and still create great pieces of art, of which many still remain unknown or are not fully appreciated. Foundation “Photography Institute proPHOTOGRAPIA” came into being on idea and for idea of promoting documentary photography, especially independent and ambitious photo reportage. Photo document is the basic and the essence of photography. In general, this is the reason why photo document has an individual and unambiguous place in the art world. It does not matter where we are situated. In our opinion it is only a place where we work on projects. Our goal is to bring the substance and the idea of our Institute outside, to be external, mostly by virtual activities and especially by publishing and exhibitions. We want to be visible and creative in promoting our intentions and achieving our goals. In cooperation and agreement with Higher School of Journalism and Humanistic Science in Poznan we run the Gallery 2piR. Since November 2008 we have been realizing new exibitionary project called: Photodocument Festival. Growing popularity of photography inspired us to create an unique place of promotion and collections. We systematically expand text archives and documentary artworks of Polish photographers. Currently, we are involved in promoting Polish photographers in our country and abroad. We started in a good style by organising the Photodocument Festival, that have already taken place two times in 2008 and 2009. We have created six exhibitions (see the program of the exhibitions 2008/2009) – now it is our proposal for galleries and other institutions. Foundation’s activities go beyond photo-projects and connected also with film and multimedia. We are interested in social-documentary art as well as each art-form that enriches and strengthens humanistic message. From the status of Foundation of Photography Institute proFOTOGRAFIA: Creating and securing conditions that promote and support photo, film and multimedia art; Supporting and popularizing art in general; taking into consideration particularly photography, film, multimedia, as well as theatre, music and literature; Supporting artists in general, especially those who focus on social-documentary artworks, actively participate in world changes, social life and defend humanistic values; Promoting humanistic, social and patriotic ideas by art, cultural and educational activities; Activity for non-profit organizations that aim at cultural, scientific, educational activity; Make our intentions real by: Realization of art events, festivals, shows, outdoor events, photo and plastic art workshops; taking into particular consideration photo, film and multimedia events that support development of humanistic, social values; Organizing and funding seminaries, discussions, conferences, lectures, contests, public actions and different forms of knowledge-exchange; Journalistic activities and distribution of information in a form of Internet pages and magazines; publishing books, magazines, brochures and multimedia; promoting photography - especially social-documentary, educational artworks and literature; Keeping a photo archive; Obtaining and granting scholarships and donations for young, gifted and independent creators; Preparing photo, film and multimedia projects - interdisciplinary, artistic, literary and publishing; Obtaining grants for photo, film and multimedia projects – interdisciplinary, artistic, literary and publishing, from government, different institutions, non-profit organizations and private people; Cooperating with government, different institutions and non-governmental organizations; Supporting artworks-exchange between national and foreign museums, galleries, cultural centers and schools in order to achieve foundation’s goals; |
